Over the years, “Macbeth,” Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, has piqued the interest of filmmakers around the world: Orson Welles in 1948, Akira Kurosawa in 1957, and Roman Polanski in 1971.

This year, Australian director Justin Kurzel tackles “Macbeth.”

The 2015 cinematic offering stars Michael Fassbender in the title role, and Marion Cotillard as his muse, Lady Macbeth.
