WDB institutes alternative service delivery

The proactive measures will protect safety of employees, job seekers during COVID-19 outbreak

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board (WDB) is instituting proactive measures to protect the health and safety of its employees, job seekers and the businesses it serves.

Effective immediately, the WDB is implementing across-the-board alternative service delivery to minimize the risk of a COVID-19 spread. While all workforce and business services units will remain fully operational, facilities and lobbies will be closed to the public until at least April 3, 2020

Job seekers, businesses and members of the public seeking assistance can do so by visiting the WDB website, or by email or phone. In certain cases, in-person services may be available on an appointment-only basis.

Other measures that have been implemented include social distancing, streamed workshops and training, sanitizing all offices and workspaces and suspension of any non-essential travel. Updates will be posted to the WDB website as additional information becomes available.

β€œThese steps are designed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus while also minimizing the impact on service delivery during these difficult times,” said Phil Cothran, Chairman of the WDB. β€œThe programs and assistance we provide through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), our three America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs) and our Business Services department are critically important as we work through the economic damage caused by the pandemic.”
