BeachLife Festival Announces Speakeasy Stage Lineup
The new Speakeasy Stage will welcome rock legends and SoCal punk staples to perform stripped-down versions of their songs.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — Chris Shiflett (of Foo Fighters), Jim Lindberg (of Pennywise), Rhett Miller (of Old 97s), Trever Keith (of Face to Face) and Jason Cruz (of Strung Out) are among the performances slated for the new Speakeasy Stage at the BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, the festival announced Wednesday.
The new Speakeasy Stage will welcome rock legends and Southern California punk staples to perform stripped-down versions from their catalogs during the May 1-3 festival, the news release said.
The Speakeasy, which was developed by BeachLife Creative Director Jim Lindberg, will allow artists who traditionally perform with full bands to showcase their songs in a more raw, acoustic form. Lindberg, who is frontman for Hermosa Beach-based punk rock group Pennywise, designed Speakeasy to integrate more of LA’s hardcore spirit into the festival, the news release said.

"It's a natural progression to include music from the punk scene in a way that works with the vibe of the festival," Lindberg told Billboard Magazine. "It's a stripped down, bare bones, authentic and real experience that seems like the perfect way to represent this big part of the local culture."
