California Misconceptions: Whatever You Do, Don't Call It 'Cali'
We asked: What's a misconception that people have about California that drives you crazy? Here's what you said.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — California living can mean many things to people — but there's one thing people in Redondo Beach can't handle — it's saying "Cali."
You might hear the nickname for the Golden State, but in Redondo Beach, people don't actually love it.
Patch asked this question on Facebook: What's a misconception that people have about California that drives you crazy? Here are some of the results:

"That any SoCal natives call it "Cali."" Karen Jones said.
"This makes me NUTS," Amy P. Hanson wrote.

"... when did that start?" Molly Gehley asked.
"Started hearing it sometime in the past 7 years or so," Jones posted.
Surfing is another stereotype people in Redondo Beach pointed out.
"That we all surf," Kris Woods wrote.
That California couldn't thrive without other states was another question that came up.
"That we would go under without support from other states. I mean, where does that even come from?" Susan Rams asked.
Some pointed to the pricey real estate market — and if it's worth it.
"That it's worth the cost of living," Matt Glass said.
"Or that it's not," Joni Cantrell said.
