Coroner IDs 83-Year-Old Driver Killed In Torrance Crash

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Coroner's Office Saturday released the name of an 83- year-old motorist who was killed in a traffic crash in Torrance, while suffering a medical emergency.

The motorist was identified as Hans Kugler, according to the coroner's office.

Kugler was a resident of Redondo Beach, according to the Torrance Police Department.

He was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck that crashed into a power pole on Sepulveda Boulevard near Ocean Avenue shortly before noon on Sunday. He died at an area hospital, said Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris.

"It was discovered the driver ... suffered a medical emergency prior to veering off the road and colliding with the power-line pole," Harris said.
