El Camino College Foundation Gets $25,000 For STEM Scholarships

This is the 5th consecutive annual grant for STEM scholarships that the El Camino College Foundation has received from Edison International.

From El Camino College: The El Camino College Foundation received a $25,000 donation from Edison International to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) scholarships for outstanding students.

This is the fifth consecutive annual grant for STEM scholarships that the El Camino College Foundation has received from Edison International since 2012. Students working toward calculus-based degrees in math, engineering and science-related fields were eligible to apply for these STEM-focused scholarships.

This year, Connie Turner, government affairs at Edison International’s utility Southern California Edison, awarded 16 students scholarships in the amount of $1,000 and $2,000 at the annual MESA/STEM Transfer Awards program on May 31.

Edison International has been a generous and longtime industry partner of El Camino College, providing student scholarships, mentors for aspiring scientists and engineers, and job initiative grants.

The recent Edison International donation is part of the El Camino College Foundation Scholarship program, which continues to provide critical support to students in a variety of academic disciplines. Approximately $800,000 will be awarded to over 650 students for the 2017-18 academic year.
