Galaxy Appoint Former Captain As General Manager
Peter Vagenas has been the Galaxy's vice president of soccer operations since January, a position he will continue to hold.

CARSON, CA -- Peter Vagenas was appointed as general manager of the Los Angeles Galaxy, filling one of the positions vacated by Bruce Arena when he was hired to coach the U.S. men's national team, the Major League Soccer team announced Monday.
Vagenas has been the Galaxy's vice president of soccer operations since January, a position he will continue to hold.
In his new role, Vagenas will oversee all soccer activities of the Galaxy, its United Soccer League affiliate, LA Galaxy II and the Galaxy Academy, including player acquisition, scouting and management of the club's coaching staffs.

Vagenas played for the Galaxy from 2000 to 2008 and was a member of its 2002 and 2005 MLS Cup-winning teams.
Vagenas also played for Seattle Sounders FC, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Chivas USA during his 13-season MLS career.

Vagenas was director of the LA Galaxy Academy from 2013 until becoming vice president of soccer operations.
Vagenas was raised in Pasadena and played at St. Francis High and UCLA before being chosen by the Galaxy in the second round of the 2000 MLS SuperDraft.
"Peter has been an influential figure in the continued growth of the LA Galaxy both on and off the field for a long period of time," Galaxy President Chris Klein said.
"In each of his roles with this club -- team captain, academy director and VP of soccer operations -- he has consistently shown an unparalleled dedication and expertise."
