Green Screens Offer South Bay Students Even More Possibilities
Valera Screens donates its unique, portable green screens to South Bay students so imaginations can keep growing in the pandemic.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Technology has played an important role throughout the pandemic, connecting students to their teachers and classmates. In the South Bay, students have also received donations from a local company to help them create and inspire learning using green screens.
The one-of-a-kind, portable green screens created by Valera Screens were donated to several Redondo Beach Schools, including Alta Vista Elementary, Beryl Heights Elementary, Madison Elementary, Tulita Elementary, Washington Elementary, Adams Middle School and Parras Middle School.
It's been a proud moment for the company, as they help students expand their imaginations and learning potential, Rajeev Mishra, CEO and founder of Valera Screens told Patch.

"When we started Valera Screens, we were excited about the possibilities for teachers to use green screens as an effective tool to enhance creativity in the classroom," Mishra said. "The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation in schools, which is quickly shaping how educators are incorporating multimodal learning."
It's an entirely new landscape for learning.

"Before 2020, video conferencing for teachers, students, and parents was a novel concept," Mishra said. "Thanks to remote learning, platforms like Zoom have become an integral part of life."
Tools such as green screens help add even more options for students in a distance learning environment.
"Our Valera Screens create an engaging and professional background for teachers and parents while adding an extra layer of privacy in the home," Mishra said. "The portability, price points, and our commitment to educators played a big role in the adoption from the K-12 community. As teachers and students return to school, classrooms will continue to use the green screens inside the classroom to maximize creativity through video-based assignments."
As students return to the classroom, having a green screen tool helps even more.
"A number of our employees are local residents and have students in South Bay schools," Mishra said. "One of our employee’s daughters performed in a virtual school play using a Creator 95 (one of our lightweight, collapsible green screens), so we were excited to be able to give this experience to more students in the community."
It's crucial to keep kids engaged in the classroom — now more than ever.
"We’re harnessing the power of their preferred technologies from devices, apps, and software, to keep them interested in their favorite subjects," Mishra said. "Green screens put students in front of unlimited backgrounds and open up the possibilities for new assignments to push our kids’ imaginations."
Teachers and parents also approve.
"We’ve received lots of great feedback from teachers and parents, and that means a lot to us," Mishra said. "We’re proud to have multiple products that are easy to use and love to see projects that can be done on a very low budget from presentations, to book reports and more."
As schools reopen, the company hopes to add more green screens beyond virtual learning from home.
"We hope that these portable green screens will help spice up the curriculum for teachers and enhance the learning experience for students to unleash a new generation of content creators," Mishra said. "Since the launch of the company, we have had programs dedicated to serving K-12 educators — through donations of green screens and on-campus demonstrations."
The possibilities are now even greater.
"2020 was a challenging year for teachers, parents, and especially students," Mishra said. "We’re excited for our products to be used inside the classroom, which is something we weren’t able to do last year."
"We look forward to donating to more in the future," Mishra said.
