Official 66th Assembly Candidates List Released

The certified list of candidates competing in the June 5 primary election are released by California Secretary of State Debra Bowen. The 66th Assembly District includes Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes.

The California Secretary of State's office Thursday announced the certified list of candidates who will compete for the 66th Assembly District in the June 5 primary election.

  • Al Muratsuchi: Democrat / Torrance / Prosecutor and school board member
  • Craig Huey: Republican / Torrance / Small business owner
  • Nathan Mintz: Republican / Torrance / Aerospace engineer

The top two vote-getters in the June 5 primary election will advance to the Nov. 6 general election regardless of party preference or whether one candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary. The primary election will include elections for U.S. President, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as state Senate and state Assembly seats.

As of Jan. 3, 2012, there were 253,506 registered voters in the 66th Assembly District with 38 percent registered as Democrats and 35 percent registered as Republicans, according to data from the Secretary of State's office.
