
Possession of stolen property/burglary tools: Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, an officer patrolling near The Esplanade and Avenue “I”, observed a pickup truck in the alley. Contact was made with the occupants. Both the driver and passenger were on probation for theft related crimes. A black bag containing bolt cutters, two pry bars, flashlights and gloves, along with a stolen credit card, was discovered in the possession of the driver. The driver was arrested for possession of burglary tools and suspicion of possessing stolen property.
Vehicle vandalism: Officers responded to numerous reports of vandalism in the area on Tuesday, February 14. A suspect punctured the tires of more than twenty vehicles.
DUI: Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, officers received a call of a road rage incident near the intersection of Beryl Street and Flagler Lane. One of the drivers exited the vehicle and struck the other vehicle with a cane. The other driver (victim) sped away, but was followed by the suspect. The victim stopped in the 2100 block of Marshallfield Lane, where an off duty police officer detained the suspect until police arrived. There was no damage to either vehicle. After an investigation, the suspect was arrested for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.

Vehicle burglary: Officers responded to reports of three vehicles with smashed widows on Sunday, February 19. Unknown suspects stole property from the vehicles.
Robbery: Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, the Redondo Beach Police Department Pier Unit pursued two robbery suspects. The suspects dropped the victims’ property as the officers pursued them. During the incident, a witness contacted the police and advised that one possible suspect was running toward the intersection of North Pacific Coast Highway and Beryl Street. Officers responded and detained the subject, who was later identified by victims as one of the suspects.

One of the police officers involved in the foot pursuit identified the second subject, who had escaped the area. The second suspect was taken into custody without incident at his home.
Officers recovered the victims’ property that the suspects had dropped. The victims had marijuana and LSD tabs in their stolen property and were arrested for possession of controlled substances.
