Redondo Beach: Join A Virtual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Event
Redondo Beach will host a virtual event "The Beloved Community: Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and making his dream our reality."

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach locals are invited to join the Redondo Beach Police Department in partnership with leaders from the Redondo Beach Police Department Community Engagement Board for a virtual celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The community is invited to honor the civil rights leader on the holiday observance of Dr. King’s birthday on Jan. 18.

The theme for the Redondo Beach 2nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration is "The Beloved Community: Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and making his dream our reality," Redondo police officials announced this week.
"Due to the continuing Covid-19 restrictions, the event will be an online hosted event, featuring tributes to the legacy and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from members of the community including local artists, musicians, and dancers," officials said. "An unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, legacy and leadership will be featured for the January 18, 2021, online celebration."

In addition to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration event, the Redondo Beach Police Foundation is sponsoring three scholarships for Redondo Union High School students graduating in 2021. The scholarship recipients will be awarded later in the spring of 2021.
