Ruby's Diner In Redondo Beach Closes Permanently In Pandemic
Ruby's Diner closed after 30 years during the coronavirus pandemic.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — Ruby's Diner, a popular Redondo Beach spot for fries, milkshakes and classic car shows, shut its doors for good this week after more than 30 years in the community.
Kim Harper is a manager at 245 N. Harbor and said the restaurant is like one of many local businesses and restaurants struggling to stay open during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re very sad, been devastated the last three days for my staff, my employees. If you were a customer here you know we were much more than a restaurant, we were a family and it’s been very hard on everyone,” Harper told The Daily Breeze.

The closure was a surprise to staff and locals.
“A lot has to do with COVID-19," Harper said. "My boss came in and it was a very sudden closure and he informed us that day it was going to be closing and it was closed within the next hour."
