Uber Eats, Nimble Launch New Prescription Delivery Service
Uber Eats and Nimble launched a new prescription delivery service in SoCal. Find out how it works.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — You can now order prescriptions in SoCal the same way you order food through Uber Eats.
Uber Eats is partnering with Nimble, a growing prescription delivery service in the U.S. that connects pharmacies with delivery, to bring personal health and wellness items to your door.
The on-demand prescription delivery service is now available in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego via the Uber Eats app. It's a recent shift to help people during the pandemic and deliver important items contact-free.

"All Uber Eats users in these regions will now have access to prescription delivery right to their doorstep in as little as one hour, which is faster than any other prescription delivery service," the company announced.
Users can transfer existing prescriptions and add new ones.

"Controlled substances are ineligible, as are prescriptions paid for—in whole or in part—by any government healthcare program such as Medicare, Medicaid, or TRICARE," the company said.
Uber Eats wants to add more than food to its services.
“At Uber, we’re evolving Uber Eats to become your go-to destination for much more than food from your favorite restaurant, corner store, or grocer," Kiran Vinta, Uber’s US GM for New Verticals, said in a statement.
"We are thrilled to announce that we’re one step closer to delivering that reality to Southern Californians with the launch of on-demand prescription delivery, powered by our partner Nimble,” Vinta said. “Naturally, people are looking for ways to safely and conveniently get the things they need, and we’re proud to bring the magic of Uber to prescription delivery.”
More than 2,000 independently owned and operated pharmacies are in California. Nimble vets and works with these pharmacies, arming them with the technology and infrastructure needed to provide simpler, more convenient patient experiences.
“When it comes to the pharmacy experience, consumers have always had to choose between convenience and local loyalty,” Nimble CEO and Founder, Talha Sattar, said in a statement. “But these should not be mutually exclusive. Our partnership with Uber Eats allows us to both help Southern California pharmacies stay competitive, and offer millions of residents access to on-demand prescription delivery at a time when they need it most.”
“We are a community-focused pharmacy that's always looking for better, more user-friendly ways to support and care for our customers,” said Mary Kandaharian, Founder of Complete Care Pharmacy in Glendale. “Working with Nimble and Uber Eats will allow us to provide more convenient and accessible experiences to current and new patients who need a simple way to order prescriptions right from their phones.”
Users can manage their prescriptions via the Uber Eats app and see when their delivery arrives.
Uber Eats and Nimble have also launched the prescription partnership in New York City and Miami earlier in 2021. Dallas, Austin and Houston were the first cities to pilot the program, which is also now available in Chicago and Atlanta.
Today’s expansion into these California markets follows a successful prescription delivery launch in New York City and Miami earlier this year, and an initial pilot program in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. The service is also launching today in Chicago and Atlanta.
