Zoom Down In Redondo Beach?: Widespread Outage

A widespread outage affected Zoom users in the U.S. and U.K.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Videoconferencing behemoth Zoom is deploying a fix after widespread outages were reported in the U.S. and U.K., The Verge reports.

The Bay area company has issued updates throughout the morning. As of 9:37 a.m. PT Zoom said it had "resolved the issue causing users to be unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars."

"Users are now also able to sign up for paid accounts, upgrade, and manage their service on the Zoom website. We are currently monitoring to ensure that these services are operational."

Zoom first confirmed the outage at 5:51 a.m. PT. In a post on the website, the company acknowledged receiving "reports of users being unable to visit the Zoom website (zoom.us) and unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars."

Millions of people rely on Zoom for both work and distance learning during the coronavirus pandemic.
