Average San Diego County Gas Price Up For 5th Consecutive Day

The average price increased eight-tenths of a cent to $3.939, its highest amount since Nov. 19, 2019, according to figures.

SAN DIEGO, CA β€” The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Friday for the fifth consecutive day after a 40-day streak of increases totaling 44.1 cents ended with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent.

The average price increased eight-tenths of a cent to $3.939, its highest amount since Nov. 19, 2019, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has increased 1.9 cents over the past five days, including four-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The average price is 2.1 cents more than one week ago, 24.6 cents higher than one month ago and 77.8 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 71.2 cents since the start of the year, mainly because of a run of 58 increases in 59 days totaling 57.6 cents that ended Sunday.

"Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have dropped by more than 20 cents in the past two weeks as supply issues have eased, and the California Energy Commission and OPIS reported that refiners are producing the highest levels of California gasoline since September of last year," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
