Average SD Gas Price Unchanged After 55 Increases In 57 Days

The average price rose 49 cents over the previous 57 days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA β€” The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County was unchanged Friday, remaining at $3.973 after rising in 55 of the previous 57 days to its highest amount since Nov. 15, 2019.

The average price rose 49 cents over the previous 57 days, including two-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.3 cents higher than one week ago, 16.8 cents more than one month ago and $1.008 greater than one year ago.

"Oil Price Information Service and the California Energy Commission report that production of local gasoline increased during four of the past five weeks, indicating anticipation of stronger demand in coming weeks as pandemic restrictions ease," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

"This trend runs counter to oil prices easing internationally because of COVID-related shutdowns in Europe and Africa. We'll see in the coming weeks if tempering oil prices have an effect on local gas prices."
