The mixed breed ranked as the No. 1 most popular dog in the United States, with the Labrador retriever, Chihuahua, German Shepherd and golden retriever rounding out the top five.
Rover analyzed data for more than a half-million pet parents to determine the popularity of various dog breeds.
The pet website also included a "Dog Breed Selector" in the 2020 report, which matches people with a dog breed based on different aspects of their lifestyle.
Rover also surveyed 1,000 U.S. pet parents to find out how they picked the right breed for their family. This year's breed preferences "uniquely reflect the changing world around us: Dog adoption rates have increased since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and nearly one-third of respondents said they adopted a dog while coronavirus social distancing measures have been in effect," Rover said in a news release.
