Kids Are Free In October At San Diego Zoo And Safari Park
Children 11 and younger receive free admission during the annual "Kids Free" event at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
SAN DIEGO, CA – Kids are free during October at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Presented by Mission Fed, the annual "Kids Free" event offers free admission to children ages 11 and younger, while providing special weekend activities for the whole family.
At the San Diego Zoo, kids can participate in the African Treasure Hunt, following clues on a map to discover wildlife treasures throughout the park. Zoo Corps teens will present a discovery station stocked with props, biofacts and things to do, while animal ambassadors will educate and entertain guests at the "Wild About Animals" show at Wegeforth Bowl.

HalGLOWeen, the San Diego Zoo's glowing Halloween event, will return this year, during Kids Free month. As the sun sets Oct. 26-28, the park will glow under black light, with fun activities for all ages. HalGLOWeen entertainment will include a bubble dance party, a cupcake walk, performers, special animal experiences and more. Kids can wear costumes for this event.
At the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, children and their families can come face to face with animal ambassadors on Saturdays and Sundays in October. A variety of keeper talks will give kids a new way of looking at wildlife. This year, the Safari Park will also extend free admission for kids through the first four days in November in celebration of Día de los Muertos. This multi-day event, honoring Mexico's traditional Day of the Dead festivities, will feature mariachi musicians, folklorico dancers, stilt walkers, crafts, decorations and more.

The San Diego Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except during HalGLOWeen festivities, when the park will close at 8 p.m. The San Diego Safari Park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Children younger than 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult during their visit to the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park.
