Man Shot In Leg And Robbed In Hillcrest

A man was shot in the leg and robbed in Hillcrest Friday by an assailant who remains at large.

SAN DIEGO, CA β€” A man was shot in the leg and robbed in Hillcrest Friday by an assailant who remains at large.

San Diego police say the 31-year-old victim was approached just before 12:30 a.m. while walking in the 3700 block of Sixth Avenue.

While the victim was talking on his cell phone, a man came up from behind him and demanded a small fanny pack he was carrying, San Diego Officer Tony Martinez said. The victim refused and the suspect shot him in the leg, took the fanny pack and fled, Martinez said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to the officer.

The suspect was described as white, 5-foot-10, with a medium build.
