Man Wounded In Lower Back In College East Shooting

A 24-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the College East area and the gunman was on the loose Thursday morning.

SAN DIEGO, CA β€” A 24-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the College East area and the gunman was on the loose Thursday morning.

The victim was walking up to an apartment in the 4900 block of Catoctin Drive about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when a man appeared and pointed a gun at the victim and began firing, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

The victim ran when he saw the gun and was wounded in the lower back, Heims said.

The victim's girlfriend took him to a hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries, Heims said.

A detailed description of the shooter and motive for the shooting were not available.
