Mexican Consulate In San Diego Offers COVID-19 Vaccines: Report
The consulate offers vaccine appointments three days a week by appointment.

SAN DIEGO, CA β The Mexican Consulate in San Diego this week began offering coronavirus vaccines, KPBS reports. The facility will offer inoculation appointments three days a week.
According to the news outlet, the vaccine will be offered for free, by appointment, based on San Diego Countyβs eligibility guidelines.
βThe consulate is not just a place,β Agency Director for the San Diego County Health & Human Services Agency Nick Macchione told KPBS. βItβs an impact that is had for the entire region and it opens up another avenue to protect our community.β

Vaccines will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on the patio of the consulate at 1540 India Street, according to Border Report.
βIt is no secret that the Latino community has disproportionately been affected by the pandemic; they account for 74 percent of COVID-19 related deaths,β Consul General Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez told Border Report. βThe vaccine is free regardless of immigration status or nationality."

San Diego County data shows over 18 percent of its population is fully vaccinated against the deadly virus. As it stands, vaccine appointments are open to all residents except for those in Phase 2, which includes the general population over the age of 16.
