Miracle Babies Hosts Former NICU Patients and Families
Nonprofit to bring together former hospitalized newborns with other NICU grads in honor of World Prematurity Day on Nov. 17

Miracle Babies, a local nonprofit dedicated to uniting families with their hospitalized newborns through financial assistance and supportive services, will host its Miracle Babies Annual Reunion Event to bring former NICU babies and their families together to celebrate their health and homecoming. The reunion will take place on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at experience-based children’s speciality boutique Distroller Wərld in Fashion Valley, 7007 Friars Rd, Rm 731A, San Diego, CA 92108. The event will commemorate World Prematurity Day on Nov. 17, a global day of celebration dedicated to acknowledging the journeys of preterm infants and their families, and raising awareness for preterm birth.
Participating families will be given the opportunity to adopt their very own Neonate Baby, courtesy of Distroller. The Neonate Babies are space babies that hail from a special planet called Neonatopia and are housed inside incubators where child “Neo-parents” adopt them, go through an APGAR test and receive follow up care instructions. At the event, the adoption process aims to help family members, including siblings of hospitalized newborns, understand the care process of fragile babies in the NICU.
“Just like babies in the NICU, a Neonate Baby is born in a fragile state and needing of special care and attention,” said Distroller CEO Daryn Fillis. “Through the Neonate Babies, we hope to inspire and engage children through positive play and give them a better understanding that all babies, no matter whether they’re from Neonatopia or Planet Earth, deserve to be loved.”
Miracle Babies’ vision is to prevent admission of newborns to the NICU and ensure every child is given a chance for a healthy life. Since 2010, Miracle Babies has been working to provide support to families through education, research and its Family Assistance Program.
“In light of World Prematurity Day, we’re excited to bring families together who have experienced the hardships of having a newborn in the NICU,” said Miracle Babies President & Founder Dr. Sean Daneshmand. “It’s truly a gift to see these once hospitalized newborns grow into happy, healthy children and connect them with other families who have lived a similar journey.”
