SeaWorld San Diego To Reopen Rides On April 12

The park reopened in February as an accredited zoo and aquarium​, with limited capacity and reservations. Rides remained closed.

SAN DIEGO, CA — SeaWorld San Diego will reopen its rides and roller coasters on Monday, April 12, the theme park announced Thursday.

"We're delighted to bring back some of the best thrill and family rides that San Diego has to offer," Park President Marilyn Hannes said in a statement. "Our guests have been eager for SeaWorld to reopen rides, and we are looking forward to providing these exciting experiences to our guests."

Under the state's COVID-19 theme park regulations, the park and rides will have limited capacity, as well as health and safety measures in place, including markings for physical distancing in queue lines, modified seating to maintain physical distancing, and hand sanitizer at the entrance and exit of all rides, according to the theme park.

"Safety is our number one priority," Hannes said. "We've been fortunate to already be open and operating as a zoo, we've already implemented significant safety enhancements for our guests."

SeaWorld will continue to operate with enhanced health and safety protocols for cleaning and sanitizing, physical distancing, face covering requirements, and temperature screenings, according to the theme park. Date-specific tickets and reservations available each day are limited and must be purchased online and in advance of each visit to manage capacity.
