Trash Truck Fire Forces Evacuation Of San Diego Car Dealership

A trash truck fire prompted the evacuation of a Toyota dealership on Mission Gorge Road.

SAN DIEGO, CA β€” Crews from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department battled a trash truck fire Sunday that prompted the evacuation of a Toyota dealership on Mission Gorge Road.

Four fire units were on the scene of the fire in the area of Mission Gorge Road and Fairmount Avenue that was first reported at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, SDFRD said. Units arrived at 3:13 p.m. and additional resources were requested from the San Diego city equipment, such as a skip loader.

A high-voltage power line in the area was shut down about 4 p.m.

All fire crews were pulled back and were fighting the fire from the apparatus using deck guns, a high-capacity water source mounted on the apparatus.

A total of 27 fire personnel were assigned to the fire, according to a fire department incident log.
