Wind Advisory In Effect for San Diego County's Deserts, Mountains

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A wind advisory is in effect for San Diego County's desert and mountain areas until 5 a.m. Tuesday, a National Weather Service forecaster said Monday.

Winds are expected to range between 25 and 35 mph, with gusts to 55 mph, Miguel Miller said.
"We also have isolated spots that are really windy, and those could have gusts up to 75 mph," Miller added.

The NWS said gusts could blow around unsecured objects, power lines and tree limbs, and affect high-profile vehicles. Blowing dust can reduce visibility on the roads and disrupt travel. The wind advisory was first issued at 9 p.m. Sunday.

The winds are expected to decrease early Tuesday morning, Miller said.

"We expect brisk winds pretty much every afternoon this week," he added. "We'll keep an eye on it and issue any advisories or warnings as needed."

San Diego County will experience mostly sunny skies Monday, after coastal clouds clear off, with some high clouds.

Temperature-wise, highs will range from the 60s on the coast to the upper 90s in the deserts. Inland valleys will mostly be in the 70s, with mountain areas in the 50s.
