‘Camping’ Exhibit On Display At San Anselmo Historical Museum
From the 1880s to the early 1920s the San Anselmo Creek was a destination for San Franciscans looking for a respite from the cold summers.

SAN ANSELMO, CA — A new exhibit on display in San Anselmo offers a glimpse of life in the town’s past.
“Camping in San Anselmo,” which is on display this summer at the San Anselmo Historical Museum, shows what camping life along the creek was like a hundred or so years ago.
From the 1880s to the early 1920s the creek was a summer destination for San Franciscans looking for a respite from the cold fog that typically blankets the coastal city this time of year.

The exhibits uses images and artifacts to replicate what life was like in this North Bay town when San Francisco residents would travel by ferry and train to find a spot to set up camp.
The exhibit is located in the hallway on the lower level of the San Anselmo Public Library.
