"It's a great way to get to know a place, local animals and plants, and collect real scientific data," the town said in a statement promoting the event first posted last month.

The event was developed through a partnership between the town's Artist in Residence program and Fairfax Open Space Committee.

Artist in Residence and Chair of Fairfax Open Space Susan Pascal Beran co-organized the event with Heather Duplaisir, the Fairfax Open Space Committee's newest member.
