Fairfax Skatepark Fundraiser Nears Goal

FAIRFAX, CA — A GoFundMe drive in support of a Fairfax skate park is nearing its goal.

The Fairfax Community Skatepark opened earlier this month at a temporary location for six months while the town’s Park and Recreation Commission seeks a permanent location.

Skatepark is a community project was funded by entirely through donations from community members and small businesses).

As of Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised over $42,400. The fund drive’s goal is $45,000.

Some of the funds raised are providing kids in need in the community with free skateboarding equipment including helmets and safety gear.

Skatepark organizers say the park provides a safe and healthy outdoor activity for kids mired in lockdown amid the pandemic.
