Fissure Shuts Down Road In Point Reyes National Seashore
A contractor doing excavation discovered a fissure in the roadbed that could fail and cause a landslide, officials said.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Limantour Road in Point Reyes National Seashore is closed to traffic until further notice due to hazardous conditions, the National Park Service announced.
Last week, a contractor doing excavation discovered a fissure in the roadbed that could fail and cause a landslide.
"This presents a hazardous condition and the road was immediately closed and will remain so until further notice," officials said.

The road has been undergoing work as part of the Federal Highways Administration park road improvement project. The work is expected to last through September.
The road is used to access Limantour Beach and various trailheads. The closure includes motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians.
