Backyard Homebrew with The Beer Guy

Friday March 3rd & Saturday March 4th

On a misty hillside in Forest Knolls the sweet smell of boiling malted grains and hops wafts into the crisp morning air from an open cellar door
British born Guy Pawson beams as he stirs a large steaming kettle of ingredients that he will magically transform , with time and care into a distinctive Belgian style ale.

Join us as we take a Friday evening and Saturday morning to explore the appreciation and crafting of home brew .

Friday 7:00-8:30pm
Join us as we taste select home brewed craft beers while Guy describes the two main ways of producing quality beers at home: extract and all grain brewing.

We will explore the ingredients and processes for each method and describe the basic setup for a successful home brewery.

Saturday 9am-12noon
Roll your sleeves up as we get down to business and work as a group to transform raw ingredients, through the alchemy of brewing ,into a living fermenting batch of home-brew !

Using a commercially available kit, we will brew a strong European style ale using a combination of extract and all-grain methods.

The methods we use are easily transferred to the home stovetop brewery but are also the foundation of a scaled-up process for producing larger quantities of
all grain homebrew, as outlined in the advanced course.
