Marin Murder Suspect Arrested

Miguel Jimenez Alejandre, 33 of Baypoint, confessed to the killing of David Nunez Sanchez, 42 of Pittsburg, San Rafael police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A landscaping employee was arrested Wednesday in connection with the killing of his supervisor, the San Rafael Police Department said in a statement Thursday.

Miguel Jimenez Alejandre, 33 of Baypoint, on Wednesday confessed to the killing of David Nunez Sanchez, 42 of Pittsburg, police said.

A family member on Monday notified Pittsburg police when Nunez Sanchez did not return from work at a San Rafael site.

On Tuesday a representative of the company that employed Nunez Sanchez called San Rafael police after locating Nunez Sanchez’s vehicle at the site, a North Avenue apartment complex.

Officers arriving on the scene initiated a search of the area after finding Nunez Sanchez’s phone and uneaten lunch in his truck according to police.

Nunez Sanchez’s body was found buried under some brush and branches, deliberately hidden from view by someone in the estimation of officers on the scene according to police.

Officers traveled to Contra Costa County Wednesday to interview the three employees who were with Nunez Sanchez at the San Rafael site.

All three employees told officers that they assumed their boss was still working at the site when they left Monday at the end of their workday although they knew we was expected to be at Oakland location later that day, police said.

Alejandre confessed to the killing amid questioning according to police.

No further details including a possible motive or the manner in which Jimenez Alejandre was killed were released.

Alejandre was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked at the Marin County Jail according to police.

This is the second reported homicide in less than two weeks in a city in which such incidents are exceedingly rare.

On May 5, former Novato resident Jeffrey Osmaldo Aguirre, 19, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the May 3 killing of 23-year-old Wilmer Gonzalez Velazquez of San Rafael, police said.

San Rafael reported just one homicide over a nine-year period before this month.
