Marin Readies For Partial Road Closures
The lane closures are part of the city's Third Street Rehabilitation Project
SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael is readying for partial road closures next month, city officials said.
The July 6-7 rolling lane closures are part of the city’s Third Street Rehabilitation Project.
A contractor on those days will use Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) to locate underground utilities on sections on Second and Third streets, city officials said.

GPR uses radio waves to capture images below the road’s surface, allowing crews to locate underground utilities with pinpoint accuracy without disturbing the ground.
This will allow the design team to better coordinate the proposed utility improvements, including traffic signal poles, with any existing underground utilities.
