'Point Reyes Blue' Nabs Bronze at U.S. Championship Cheese Contest – Here's Where to Buy It in Marin

Hundreds of cheese makers across the country entered their coveted cheddars, Gorgonzolas and myriad other cheeses into the 2013 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, and one of Marin's renowned cheese makers came home with a bronze.

The Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company snagged third place for their “Point Reyes Bay Blue” in the category “Blue Veined Cheeses with Exterior Molding.” It received a 96.2 score out of 100.

Not surprisingly, Wisconsin won the bulk of the awards, but a few other Californian companies were bestowed with the cheesy prize. Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese was the only winner from Marin.

You can find Point Reyes Bay Blue cheese at Paradise Foods in Novato, Paradise Foods in Corte Madera, United Market in San Anselmo and San Rafael, Good Earth Natural Foods in Fairfax, as well as Mollie Stone's in Greenbrae and Sausalito and Woodlands Market in Kentfield.
