Traffic Advisory: Procession For Fallen Marin Deputy Begins
Motorists on Highway 101 should expect a large number of emergency vehicles posted up on overpasses, according to the CHP.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A procession of emergency vehicles will escort the body of a fallen Marin County Sheriff's deputy back home Thursday afternoon.
Ryan Zirkle, 24, of Petaluma, was responding to a 911 call shortly after midnight Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on state Route 1, just north of Point Reyes Station, according to the California Highway Patrol. He died shortly after arriving at Petaluma Valley Hospital.
The Novato native served as a deputy with the Marin County Sheriff's Office for two and a half years.

Zirkle's body will be escorted from the Sonoma County Coroner's Office to Marin County, the CHP's Marin office announced shortly before 4 p.m. The procession is expected to take place within the next hour.

The Central Marin Police Authority and San Rafael Police Department issued traffic advisories to inform the public that the procession would go through the 300 block of Redhill Ave. in San Anselmo and downtown San Rafael.
"We are paying our respects and supporting our partner agency," officials said. "Thank you for your patience and understanding."
