San Anselmo Artist Featured At MOMA ‘Crisis’ Exhibit

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A San Anselmo artist’s work is currently on display at one of the Bay Area’s most prestigious museums.

Tucker Nichols is among seven Bay Area artists currently featured in a pandemic-themed exhibit at San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art.

“Close to Home: Creativity in Crisis” features art inspired by the dual crisis of 2020: A pandemic and racial justice reckoning.

“Individually, the artists demonstrate a startlingly wide range of artistic, emotional, and political responses, a reminder of how this unprecedented period affects each of us differently,” the museum writes in a description of the exhibit.

“Taken together, their work emphasizes our shared experience in this collective crisis.”

Nichols’ work has been featured at the Drawing Center in New York, the San Denver Art Museum, Den Frie Museum in Copenhagen, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, among other venues.

His drawings have been published in McSweeney's, The Thing Quarterly, The New Yorker and the Op-Ed pages of The New York Times, among other outlets.

He is co-author of the books, Crabtree (with Jon Nichols) and This Bridge Will Not Be Gray (with Dave Eggers).
