San Anselmo Holds Bike Project Meeting
The town aims to gather public input and answer questions regarding the proposed School Bike Spine Project.
SAN ANSELMO, CA — The town of San Anselmo later this week will hold a meeting to address questions about a proposed bike project.
The town’s Public Works Department will hold the meeting Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Zoom.
The agency aims to gather public input and answer questions regarding the proposed School Bike Spine Project.

The project consists of school bike route signs and shared-lane pavement markings (sharrows) to create a 3 1/2 -mile bike route along existing streets to connect schools.
The project was developed by the Marin County Safe Routes Task Force and recommended by the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) Safe Routes Ad-hoc committee.

The task force includes representatives from local elementary schools, law enforcement, the DPW and parent volunteers.
Federal funding was for the project was secured in 2016.
The DPW will take the proposal to the council for approval in late April or early May, Project Manger Scott Schneider said.
The Transportation Authority of Marin’s Board of Directors in April 2017 approved $269,000 to fund the project.
The grant will pay for both design and construction costs.
The agency’s Board was followed the recommendation from TAM’s Safe Routes to Schools Ad-hoc Committee based on a 2016 grant application submitted by the town.
