San Anselmo Rec Dept. Launches ‘Carpentry For Kids’ Program
The K-6 enrichment program aims to teach practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on safe use of hand tools.
SAN ANSELMO, CA — The San Anselmo Recreation Department has launched a “Carpentry For Kids” program.
The K-6 enrichment program aims to teach practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on safe use of hand tools.
The skills introduced in the program include measuring, sawing, drilling, rasping, fastening, sanding, shaping, and assembly.

In the process of learning these skills, students will have an opportunity to create fun, functional and beautiful projects, and will be exposed to a variety of valuable concepts such as fractions, abstract reasoning, applied mathematics, problem solving, craftsmanship, fine motor skills, respect for tools, and patience.
The program will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays in separate sessions from March 8 through March 23 (Session 1) and from March 29 through April 20 (Session 2) with no classes held the week of April 4.

The program costs $193 for San Anselmo residents and $205 for non-residents.
