BRIDGEPOINTE ICE RINK: IMPORTANT CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 21st 7:00 PM SAN MATEO CITY HALL

The City Council Of San Mateo Will Consider The Planning Commission’s Recommendation To Deny SPI Holding’s Request To Change Land Use Designation at Bridgepointe From Ice Rink To Retail Use. Local Developer, SPI Holdings and it’s owner, Dennis Wong are offering the City 3 Million Dollars To Get Out Of Their Recreational Requirement To Keep An Ice Rink At Bridgepointe, a condition which existed when He Purchased The Property.

The San Mateo City Council of the 90’s put this land use designation in place to protect the people. If the current city council allows the developer his land use change, the developer will likely sell the property and stands to make many many millions at the expense of the community.

The San Mateo Planning Commission in December voted unanimously in a 5-0 vote to recommend that City Council DENY SPI’S REQUEST to convert the site to retail use. As you may know, Belmont Iceland is closing. Unless City Council votes to keep Bridgepointe Ice Rink, local kids and skaters will lose the ability to skate for generations to come. We need everyone to speak on behalf of the community at this important city council meeting! Thank you.
