San Carlos Man Kicks Dog, Assaults Cops, City Worker: Police

A man is accused of kicking a dog, assaulting a city employee and then injuring deputies trying to detain him at a San Carlos dog park.

SAN CARLOS, CA — A San Carlos man kicked a dog, assaulted a city employee and then injured sheriff's deputies trying to detain him, the San Mateo County Sheriff's office said Tuesday.

Deputies responded at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday to a reported assault on a city employee at the City Hall Dog Park. Deputies learned that the suspect, Brent Bickel, 35, of San Carlos, had assaulted a city employee and kicked a dog at the dog park, according to the sheriff's department.

Bickel was combative when deputies tried to detain him, according to the sheriff's department. He was eventually arrested but several deputies sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized, treated and released.
