Water Main Breaks, Snarls Traffic, Shuts Off Flows In San Carlos
Motorists are being advised to avoid El Camino Real at San Carlos Ave. as a water main break has also shut down water to a few city blocks.
SAN CARLOS, CA — Welcome to the holiday. A water main broke on Friday at about 5 a.m. on northbound El Camino Real at San Carlos Avenue, closing the two right eastbound lanes from Holly to Cherry streets and shutting down water for 22 hours, San Mateo County and water officials reported.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when driving and walking in the area. Delays are expected.
California Water Service is on the scene to fix the nagging problem and expects to have the main fix by 2 a.m. Saturday.

Bottled water is being supplied by the public water entity that services the city of San Carlos to households and businesses in the 500- to 600 block of El Camino Real.
