Calif. Student Filmmakers In 2017 All American High School Film Festival

These California high school filmmakers have been selected to premiere on the big screen in New York City from thousands across the country.

The AMC in New York City's Time Square will show off nearly 200 young Californian Filmmakers in the 2017 All American High School Film Festival. The official selections were announced on Thursday. The film festival takes place in New York City, starting on Saturday, October 7 through Sunday October 8.

"The All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) is the premier destination for talented high school filmmakers and media arts enthusiasts from around the world," a spokesperson for the event said. The mission of the festival is to provide "immersive education with a profound impact, connecting the filmmakers of the future with the rewards, respect and recognition they deserve."

Students from cities across California will be recognized in the showings which last all day Saturday and Sunday (see filmmaker and schedule list below).

Those young filmmakers who attend will get to attend workshops and panels, check out the latest gear at the tech showcase and walk the IMAX "Blue Carpet" at The Teen Indie Awards.

"Each year, in the heart of New York City, we present the world's largest high school film festival," the festival spokesperson said on their website. "We offer a grand stage for the next generation of talented filmmakers where they can: screen their amazing creations, learn from top industry professional, connect with the latest technology, explore myriad higher education opportunities, receive scholarships and technology prizes, and perhaps most importantly, create a community of shared passions and lifelong relationships."

Showings will take place Saturday and Sunday.Here are showtimes of California's finalists. Tickets for a full day passcost approximately $75 according to the site.
