"As you know, on Wednesday night the CUSD Board of Trustees held a Special Board Meeting. After closed session, the following announcement was made:

On AGENDA ITEM 3A: PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY and AGENDA ITEM 3B: CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATORS, In response to the newly revised California Department of Public Health guidelines, under Closed Session items Public Health Emergency and Conference with Labor Negotiators, the Board gave direction to staff to explore all options with urgency, working with the employee groups reopening CAPE Team to create, develop, and implement a phased-in plan to increase in-person learning for all students during the current 2020-2021 school year.

CAPE stands for Classified, Certificated, and Administration in Partnership for Excellence and together the team met for the fourth time this morning, with an additional meeting planned for Monday, March 29, 2021. The important collaborative work of the CAPE Team provides the opportunity to address all anticipated challenges in order to best meet the needs of our students.

The work of the CAPE team over the next few days will be to identify priorities and needs for our school sites and to develop timelines in our phased-in approach to increasing in-person learning for all students during this current school year. We will share more information with you early next week.
