Dear CUSD Families,

"The mission of the District is “to prepare our students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world,” which is a world that is increasingly global and diverse. As part of the District’s approved Cultural Proficiency Plan, in the summer of 2020, a committee of elementary, middle, and high school counselors was formed to identify and develop lessons to support students in understanding and appreciating the value of human differences.

The proposed K-12 lessons introduce students to age-appropriate material surrounding empathy, belonging, compassion, understanding self and differences, being an upstander, conflict resolution, stereotypes, prejudice, identity, and effective communication and problem-solving skills. The lessons are evidence-based and age appropriate.
