Disabled Big Rig Causes Lane Closure, SIG Alert At Ortega Highway

Smoke and flames were reported from a big rig at the intersection of Camino Capistrano and Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano Wednesday.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Smoke and flames erupted from a big rig driving through San Juan Capistrano Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., a semi-truck near the intersection of Camino Capistrano and Ortega Highway experienced a tire blowout that caused visible flames and smoke, according to a CHP spokesperson.

A two-lane SIG Alert was issued for cleanup and repairs to that big rig, officials reported.

The slow lanes were blocked for about 30 minutes, they reported, and there were no injuries during the incident.
