Football: Saddleback Valley Christian 26, Capistrano Valley Christian 0

San Joaquin League: The Warriors put on a strong defensive display to win a share of their seventh consecutive league title, beating undefeated CVC in the process.

You have to figure the name of Nick Siciliani was invoked at some point Thursday night before, during or after Saddleback Valley Christian shut out the San Joaquin League’s other undefeated team to win the league title.

Siciliani would have been a junior lineman this season, but died in a single-car accident over the summer with his father, Jim. Nick was honored at the team’s first home game, and the victory Thursday no doubt honored him as well.

This is the seventh consecutive league title for Saddleback Valley Christian, which pinned the first loss of the season on the Eagles, who had averaged more than 46 points per game and only twice had allowed more than seven points.
