Man Tried to Abduct 7-Year-Old Girl, Authorities Say

The incident in San Juan Capistrano occurred Monday evening near Camino de Vista. Sheriff's Department officials are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect.

Orange County sheriff's deputies in San Juan Capistrano today were looking for a bearded man in his 60s with long, gray hair who tried to abduct a 7-year-old girl near her home.

The girl was going to play with friends near her home in the 26500 block of Camino de Vista about 6:15 p.m. Monday, when the man grabbed her by the arm and tried to pull her near a trash bin, Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

"He said, 'Come with me. I'm bringing you to my car,"' Amormino said.

The girl scratched and kicked the man as she shouted for help, Amormino said. The man let her go and she ran home, Amormino added.

The suspect was described as white, with a gray beard and mustache; he was wearing a purple shirt and had a tattoo on his right forearm, Amormino said.  Anyone with more information as to the name or whereabouts of the suspect was asked to call (855) TIP-OCCS.
