San Juan Capistrano USJHA Pony Hunter Derby Winners 2017

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — In the 2017 USJHA Pony Hunter Derby presented by Makoto Farm, Stella Wasserman and her pony Benetton were at the top of their game, topping the field in two rounds according to Blenheim News. The courses were designed by Thomas Hern, with unique fences and bending lines.

"Wasserman's stunning Handy Round earned her a high score of 88, for which she took home The Plaid Horse High Score Handy Award," Blenheim News reported. "Wasserman also won the Balmoral Winning Owner Award, and Archibald Cox III won the Blue Ribbon Blankets Winning Trainer Award (accepted by Karli Postel)."

Benetton, for the high-score round, was named the highest placing large pony.

"Wasserman's slick inside turn back to the second fence of the Handy course set her apart from her competitors as the star of the round," Blenheim News said.

"It feels awesome to win the derby," Wasserman told Blenheim News. "The courses were super fun and so were the jumps. It's also fun competing with my closest friends."
