1 Dead, 2 Injured In Sonoma-Area Crash; DUI Suspected, CHP Says

A Marin County man died at the scene of the crash just outside Sonoma city limits.

SONOMA VALLEY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has identified a driver who died in a collision involving an alleged drunk driver near Sonoma on Sunday as Jamie Narkunski, 35, of Sausalito.

The California Highway Patrol said Abdulhadi Awad, 36, of Vallejo, was driving a 2008 BMW south on Eighth Street East near Napa Road around 12:20 p.m.

Awad failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Napa Road and collided with a 2013 Subaru driven by Narkunski, according to the CHP. Narkunski died at the scene.

Natalie Weiss, 34, of Sausalito, a passenger in the Subaru, suffered major injuries and was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.

Awad suffered moderate injuries and went to Queen of the Valley as well. He was determined to be under the influence and was arrested, according to the CHP.
