Bring on the Band for a Good 'Ole Pancake Breakfast
The syrup-laden breakfast buffet benefits the Sonoma Valley High School band

Music fans and pancake lovers, listen-up: Your passions merge this weekend with a good 'ole pancake breakfast, benefiting the music program.
This year's event is set for Sunday, organized by Lauren Popenoe, 17, a senior at Sonoma Valley High and an avid musician.
Popenoe, who is running the event as her senior project, plays clarinet and tenor and alto sax with the Sonoma Hometown Band, the high school Concert Band, Jazz Band and Jazz Berries.

"I’ve always been involved in music from a really young age," says Popenoe, who started playing in sixth grade. "I really like that it’s just something you can concentrate on and it’s something you can make your own."
The event, named "Taste of Star Quality," is sponsored by Whole Foods Market, Clover/Stornetta, Broadway Market and Sonoma Market. The morning feed will have all the fixings of a carb-loaded feast: pancakes, orange juice, coffee, and plenty of syrup.

Last year's breakfast raised $8,000, mostly through a lucrative silent auction, to send the band to nationally compete.
The pancake breakfast is set for Sunday, Jan. 22, at the , and runs from 8 a.m. - 1:20 p.m. Tickets, $10 for adults, $8 for kids, can be purchased at the door, or by emailing Lauren.

8:00am Jon Popenoe and Corey Jennings (guitar and harmonica duo)
9:00am Adam Traum (Americana, rockabilly)
10:00am Mad and Eddie Duran (Sax and guitar legends)
11:00am EZ Kewl (smooth jazz)
12:00pm Small ensembles made up of students from the high school choir and band.
