Sonoma Valley Memorial Day Observance

 

The 54th Sonoma Valley Joint Memorial Day Observance begins at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.

The event, located in thePark, adjacent to the Veterans' Memorial Building will begin with a speech from Marine Corps Gen. Richard D. Hearney.

Veterans are invited to gather at 10:30 a.m., wearing their best military uniforms and march in the opening of the ceremony. Participants should gather at 10:30 a.m. beneath the flag of their military branch in the parking lot.

The Napa-based Sons of the American Revolution will arrive in period costume to march to the grave-site of William Smith, the only American Revolutionary soldier known to be buried west of the Mississippi, whose final resting place is in the Memorial Park.
